Usman named GB police chief : By Shakeel Anjum in The News, Aug 11

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commandant, National Police Academy (NPA), Capt (R) Usman Zikria, Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer of BS-20, has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on Friday in place of IGP Hussain Asghar who was suspended on the order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Establishment Division sources said.

Zikria, belonging to 19 CTP, has served in the Islamabad Police as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police as well as Chief Security Officer of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto who awarded him a hand-written appreciation letter for his outstanding performance. The officer also served as Chief Staff Officer to DG FIA for two years.

Meanwhile, former DG Intelligence Bureau (IB) Aftab Sultan has assumed the charge of Commandant National Police Academy after the retirement of Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah. Aftab Sultan was removed from the office of the DG IB, a grade-22 PSP officer without completion of his tenure and asked him to report to Establishment Division (ED) as Officer on Special Duty and appointed Akhtar Gorchani, a grade-21 PSP officer against grade-22 post as DG IB, ED sources said. www.thenews.com.pk
