Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa said, “The Acting IGP has issued orders to the Computer Crime Investigation Division (CCID) to set up a specialised unit to receive and investigate complaints related to religious offences committed through social media networks.”
Consequently, a distinct unit within the CCID has been formed to specifically address complaints pertaining to insults against religions. The aim is to ensure a focused and efficient response to such offences.
To facilitate reporting, the public is encouraged to notify the newly established unit by calling the hotline at 0112 300 637. Complaints could also be submitted via fax at 0112 381 045 or emailed to [email protected]. The authorities emphasise that complaints can be submitted through any of these channels to enhance accessibility and encourage community involvement in addressing these offences, SSP Thalduwa said.
