TeK for stronger AJK govt role in Kashmir:by Asif Mehmood in Daily Times, Sept 2

LONDON: The UK Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) Secretary General Abdul Majeed Nadeem on Saturday demanded that the Azad Kashmir’s Interim Constitution Act 1974 be amended for a strong role of the AJK government in Kashmir.

While addressing the Tehreek-e-Kashmir general meeting on the recently held AJK All-Parties Conference to evolve consensus on constitutional reforms, Nadeem said now was the right time to establish a responsible government with constitutional powers to restore the original role of government in the base camp of Kashmir’s freedom movement and remove all impediments in its way to perform its basic role.

He demanded the rulers in Islamabad to trust the people of AJK and the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs to stop meddling with the local politics of AJK, henceforth, by minimising the role of Islamabad through constitutional reforms.

The government in Muzaffarabad should be independent, dignified and internally strong enough to play its role without any fear or favour from Islamabad, he added.
