Rani of Hunza asks GB CM to resign: report in The News, April 9

ISLAMABAD: Atiqa, Rani of Hunza has asked Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan to resign accepting his failure in maintaining the writ of the government throughout the peace-loving northern areas. Talking to Online in an exclusive interview, the head of formerly ruler family, Rani Atiqa said pro-development people of the areas were deprived of working environment at the beginning of their earning season.

When asked about the reason behind the recent unrest in the tourist-favorite areas, she said nothing but lack of attention on part of both the newly-installed provincial and the PPP-led federal government. “Thus the chief minister should resign to start with in acceptance of his failure to deliver,” she added.

She pointed out that if India has earmarked the seat of its Parliament for even Azad Jammu and Kashmir and kept them as reserved, why Pakistan has not given Gilgit Baltistan any representation in the National Assembly or Senate.

She complained that there was no up-to-date hospital in the entire region whereas her Hunza valley has hundred percent rate of literacy.

She pointed out that people belonging to all the sects and religions had been living in the area peacefully for centuries. Now the vacuum of governance, deprivation both economic and political, and of late lack of attention on part of the incumbent government fueled these latest unrests. http://www.thenews.com.pk/Todays-News-2-101997-Rani-of-Hunza-asks-GB-CM-to-resign
