Mian Manzoor Wattoo fanning sectarian tension in GB: Dr Israr

By Mumtaz Alvi in the News, July 16

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Deputy Information Secretary Dr Israr Shah has alleged that federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, was destroying peace in the region, earlier called the Northern Areas.

Talking to mediapersons here at PTI Central Secretariat on Saturday, Dr Shah, once a diehard activist of PPP, said that under a well-conceived conspiracy, Wattoo was fanning sectarian tension in Gilgit-Baltistan, which had been a peace model for the rest of Pakistan for decades.

“The region on which Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto showered many favours is today being destroyed by Minister Wattoo. The region today rests on a heap of arms and ammunition,” he went on to claim. PTI deputy information secretary charged that Wattoo was running Gilgit-Baltistan as a colony.

He pointed out that the issue did not stop here; the rulers were hell-bent on spoiling historic relations with China by disrupting the Karakoram Highway under a ploy.

Moreover, the artificial Attabad lake in last three years, had massively hit the traders community in the region.

Unleashing verbal attack on ex-prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, he said the politician from Multan had done nothing for the people of Pakistan and for people of Gilgit-Baltistan, saw him just replacing the plaque with his name in place of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf at the site of Bhasha dam.

Dr Shah, who parted ways with PPP after developing differences with the government on certain issues, claimed to be so close to Gilani for years and claimed he fully knew what was his family’s financial position before becoming prime minister and where did it stand when he was booted out of Prime Minister House.

The PTI office-bearer alleged that elder son of Gilani, Abdul Qadir, tried to bag Rs240 million through securing award of 300 kanals in Chilas, which was not originally the part of the site of the proposed dam.

“I call for investigation into a recent visit of Abdul Qadir Gilani to Gilgit-Baltistan. It should be probed; what was the purpose of his tour to the region. I know he went there three months back to reverse the decision of the Chilas DC regarding the land,” he charged.

Dr Shah alleged despite pressure from the Gilani’s son, the concerned DC declined to oblige him.

He paid tributes to the Supreme Court for sacking Gilani as prime minister, as this had not only secured the nation from more troubles but also prevented the pocketing of Rs240 million by the young Gilani.

PTI office-bearer said the nation wanted to know the source of income of Gilani’s sons, who now owned and enjoyed ride in vehicles worth Rs80 million. http://www.thenews.com.pk/Todays-News-6-120646-Mian-Manzoor-Wattoo-fanning-sectarian-tension-in-GB-Dr-Israr
