Judicial probe ordered into GB killings

ISLAMABAD – Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) ended the eight-day long sit-in in Islamabad after talks with Interior Minister Rehman Malik late Friday night.

The interior minister assured the MWM leaders that a judicial commission would be constituted to investigate the sectarian killings in Chilas and Gilgit.

Dialogue between Rehman Malik and the religious leaders of the MWM lasted for four hours, during which the minister agreed to meet all demands and promised a strict action against the assailants involved in Chilas mayhem.

Later, the MWM leaders announced ending of the sit-in, but warned of staging the sit-in again after two weeks if the government failed to fulfil their demands.

Malik, while announcing formation of judicial commission for investigation into the killings in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, directed the body to submit a report within one month.  http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-newspaper-daily-english-online/islamabad/15-Apr-2012/judicial-probe-ordered-into-gb-killings
