Grenade found on rail track near Bholari safely defused:

Report in Dawn, March 27th, 2023
DADU: A hand grenade was safely defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) of Sehwan police after it was found lying on the rail tracks near Bagh-i-Yousuf in the city on Sunday.

Sehwan SHO Abdul Jabbar Memon told local reporters that the area police received information from some people about presence of the grenade on the track. A joint team of the Sehwan police station and Madadgar-15 rushed to the specified spot and cordoned off the area until a BDS team arrived and safely defused the grenade, he said.

According to the BDS personnel, it appeared to be an old grenade. They could not guess as to when it was planted at this site.

The SHO said such explosives used to be planted by members of certain proscribed outfits in the past. In some cases, grenades and other explosive devices had been used to blow up railway tracks and electricity pylons in deserted areas of the province.

An investigation into the fresh recovery of grenade was underway, SHO Memon said, adding that after a thorough inspection, this section of the railways network was declared ‘clear’. No disruption in the movement of train services was caused.

Passenger train’s coach partially damaged

A coach of the Peshawar-bound Hazara Express, originating from Karachi, was damaged while the train was passing through an area near Bholari railway station on Sunday.

The driver applied emergency brakes to stop the train after he was alerted about the sudden jerks that damaged the toilet of the coach.

The cause of the damage could not be ascertained immediately. After necessary inspection, the train was allowed to resume its journey.

Kotri station master Abdul Ghani said that the incident caused no disruption in other train services. The railways maintenance staff carried out the repair work, he added.
