GB court reinstates 183 teachers

GILGIT, May 3: The Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday reinstated services of 183 teachers who were fired over a month ago by the education department.

Court sources said the education department had fired 183 teachers on March 14, declaring their appointment illegal. The terminated teachers had filed a writ petition in the Chief Court seeking relief.

On March 23, the Chief Secretary Sajjad Salim Hottiana also withdrew the orders of secretary education and said rules for termination of services were not adopted.

The Chief Court while disposing of the petition said since the chief secretary had withdrawn notification of termination which was issued by secretary education there was no justification to hear this petition. The two-member bench comprised Chief Judge Sahib Khan and Justice Mohammad Alam. Senior advocate Amjad Hussain represented the teachers.http://dawn.com/2013/05/04/gb-court-reinstates-183-teachers/
