GB cabinet reshuffle likely

GILGIT, March 7: Portfolios of all ministers would be changed in a first reshuffle in Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet and these would now be given to members in accordance with their capabilities, said spokesman for Chief Minister Mehdi Shah. The reshuffle is expected within next few days.

He said that GB Governor Karam Ali Shah had asked the chief minister to reshuffle the cabinet as its members failed to serve masses.

Meanwhile, according to an official handout, the decision to change the portfolios of ministers had been taken in consultation with them so as to avoid any resistance.

Also, the chief minister has asked all ministers absent from their workplace and spending time in Islamabad to reach the capital of the region as soon a possible. The statement said that Mr Shah had directed all the ministers to focus on their duty in GB instead of living in Islamabad.

It quoted Mr Shah as saying that decision about headquarters of the Diamer district would be made after consensus among the relevant public representatives.
