AJK bureaucracy reshuffled: By Tariq Naqash in The Dawn, Feb 18

MUZAFFARABAD, Feb 17: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the AJK government has made long due transfers and postings of senior government officials, mainly the secretaries, including the most powerful secretary Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) after six years.

According to a notification issued here on Wednesday, secretary law justice and parliamentary affairs Farhat Ali Mir was appointed secretary S&GAD and food replacing Fayyaz Akhtar Chaudhry.

Mr Chaudhry who is younger brother of AJK Supreme Court Chief Justice Reaz Akhtar Chaudhry was transferred as secretary physical planning and housing (PPH) replacing Sardar Naeem Shiraz who was appointed as secretary to the prime minister.

Mr Shiraz had replaced Dr Raja Arif Khan who is attaining the age of superannuation early next month. Mr Arif who is spouse of Mrs Noreen Arif, minister for education (schools) is also holding the office of chairman Tevta.

Director General Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Raja Mohammad Abbas was transferred as secretary law, justice and parliamentary affairs. He will hold the post in addition to his previous one.

Secretary electricity Iqbal Mohiuddin was transferred as secretary local government and rural development in place of Salim Bismil who was transferred as secretary forests and Azad Kashmir Logging and Sawmills Corporation (AKLASC).

Mr Bismil replaced Chaudhry Khurshid Ahmed who was transferred as secretary trade and industries replacing Sardar Rahim Khan who was transferred as secretary food, agriculture and animal husbandry.

Commissioner Mirpur division Ehsan Khalid Kiani was elevated as secretary communication and works in place of Sardar Nawaz Khan who was transferred as secretary education (colleges).

The incumbent secretary education (colleges) Akram Sohail was transferred as secretary electricity. Chairman Development Authority Muzaffarabad (DAM) Dr Mahmoodul Hassan Raja was transferred as commissioner Mirpur divison.

Sardar Javaid Ayub, secretary Zakat, Ushar and social welfare, and Syed Nazirul Hassan Gillani, secretary Islamic Ideological Council, were mutually transferred.

Secretary agriculture and animal husbandry Ilyas Abbasi was transferred as secretary education (schools). The current charge of secretary education (schools) was earlier held by Mr Nawaz Khan.

Among other transfers, Abid Ali Gilani, chief engineer highways (south) and Zulfiqar Ali Shah, chief engineer highways (north), were mutually transferred. Mr Gilani would also hold the office of DAM chairman.

Raja Khizar Hayat, project director Poverty Reduction Project, was transferred as chief conservator of forests in place of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam who was transferred as managing director AKLASC. The incumbent MD, Chaudhry Mohammad Nazir, was transferred as senior member, PM’s inspection/implementation commission.
