NORTH WAZIRISTAN: The security forces killed six militants and injured eight others in an intelligence-based operation in the Mir Ali town of North Waziristan district on Saturday, the military’s media wing said.
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and target killing of innocent civilians,” the ISPR said.
A soldier was also martyred in the incident, the ISPR said. “During the intense exchange of fire, 33-year-old Sepoy Abdul Hakeem, resident of District Naseerabad, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” it said.
The security forces were combing the area for more militants, it said, adding: “Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism.”
Officials said the security forces conducted the operation after receiving intelligence that some 25 militants were present in the area.
Mobile network services remained suspended in the area and the ground troops also had air cover, with helicopters taking part in the operation, the officials said.
Earlier on Tuesday, two militants were killed in separate operations in KP according to the ISPR.
In the Miramshah, troops effectively targeted a hideout of a militant and killed one in an encounter, while another militant was gunned down in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan.
