Report in Dawn, October 8th, 2023
DERA GHAZI KHAN/MUZAFFARGARH: As the PTI leaders have started releasing a series of videos in the support of the PTI and the party chief Imran Khan, former federal ministers Zartaj Gul and Shabbir Ahmed Qureshi have also posted similar video statements on social media on Saturday.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, former federal minister for environment Zartaj Gul who had gone underground during the crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) after the May 9 riots posted her statement on social media, claiming to stick to her party and the party leader.

Ms Gul termed Imran Khan a patriot as he had fought the cases of Kashmir, Palestine and Pakistan at the international forums and never provoked the party workers against the state institutions.

“I have been a part of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) since I was a student and God willing, I will remain a part of our party whenever difficult times come. We have been standing and we are standing by our party PTI, the country of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army,” she said.

She added that Imran showed his patriotism and ordered to fight alongside the army for the sake of the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had raided Gul’s residence in Dera Ghazi Khan several times to arrest her but in vain.

In Muzaffargarh, PTI leader and former federal minister Dr Shabbir Ali Qureshi released a video statement on social media similar to that of Zartaj Gul. He said Imran never asked the workers to attack the state institutions. “I, Shabbir Ali Qureshi as former MNA and district president Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Kot Addu, testify under oath that Imran Khan never ordered or encouraged us to commit violent incidents on May 9.”

He said he stood by Imran because he was a patriotic and honest leader. Without taking any names, he said the foreign forces wanted to impose two corrupt families on the people again and again.
