Alleging that the BNP-Jamaat are conspiring to foil the next national election, the leaders of ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance yesterday said they would unitedly resist any such.
They made the remarks while addressing a “peace” rally organised by the alliance protesting the “terror and anarchy” of BNP, held in front of the AL headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka
“BNP wants to change the constitution in the name of movement,” said AL Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu, also coordinator and spokesperson for the alliance.
Amu alleged that those who did not want the independence of this country are now conspiring to unseat the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said, “The dreams of those who are conspiring to foil the election will never come true. The election will be held under the Sheikh Hasina government and in a fair manner.”
“If Sheikh Hasina is not re-elected as prime minister, it will not be possible to implement the Ganga Water-sharing Treaty. Foreign pressure and conspiracies cannot weaken the premier,” said Dilip Barua, general secretary of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal.
The leaders at the rally reiterated that the alliance will be on the streets with continuous programmes to prevent any conspiracy of the BNP-Jamaat. https://www.thedailystar.net/news/bangladesh/politics/news/wont-let-bnp-jamaat-foil-polls-3389061
