KARAK: Stick-wielding women of Jatta Ismailkhel union council of Banda Daud Shah tehsil here on Thursday blocked the Karak-Bannu road to traffic to protest gas loadshedding and low pressure in the area.
The women accompanied by local elders complained that they were forced to use firewood for cooking and other needs due to low pressure and outages of natural gas in the area.
The area elders, including Khattak Ittehad general secretary Malik Farooq and Iqbal Khattak, told mediapersons that the people of gas-producing tehsil were deprived of the facility and compelled to use firewood for cooking.
They said the local women had to bring firewood from nearby hills to meet domestic needs.
They said they had informed the assistant commissioner and DSP Banda Daud Shah about the 18 hours gas outages and low gas pressure, but no action was taken to resolve the issue. Later, the AC and DSP went to the spot and assured the women that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours….
