War on Kashmir not an option: Khurshid By SHAFQAT ALI in The Nation, Sept 21, 2016

ISLAMABAD – Opposition leader Khurshid Shah yesterday said that war with India over the Kashmir issue was not an option.

The Pakistan People’s Party veteran said that the decades-old issue can be resolved only through talks.

Speaking to journalists here, Khurshid Shah said there was a need to settle the issue through diplomatic efforts. “One debate in the UNGA cannot resolve this. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also knows this. We went to wars in the past but there was no solution, so we must try to resolve it through talks,” he said.

The PPP leader said that a robust and comprehensive diplomacy was required to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue. He proposed establishing a permanent Kashmir Wing at the Foreign Office.

Shah said, no matter who was in power in the country there should be a single and uniform policy of the state regarding Kashmir.

He claimed that the Prime Minister’s speech in UNGA will not be more than an eyewash.

Regarding the Raiwind march by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Shah advised the government to adopt a cautious policy, as the rulers will be responsible for any loss of life in case of violence.

He said that protest was a democratic right of everyone but Imran Khan must keep his protest peaceful.http://nation.com.pk/newspaper-picks/21-Sep-2016/war-on-kashmir-not-an-option-khurshid
