Wahidi Demands Investigation Into His Kidnapping: by Mir Abed Joenda in Tolo News,Feb 29, 2016

Former Governor of Herat province, Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi, terms his kidnapping in one of the secure areas of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, as questionable.

Wahidi, at a joint press conference with the speaker and members of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament), called on government to investigate his kidnapping.

Wahidi, who was held hostage for two weeks in Pakistan, was released four days ago.

“It is clear that some powerful people were involved. It was not an ordinary incident. My kidnapping as a former government official in one of the most secure places is questionable. I urge the government to investigate the incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, the former governor of Kabul, Abdul Jabar Taqwa, said: “Kidnapping of a prominent figure in one of the most secure areas of the capital [Islamabad] is questionable and it seems that it was not a simple incident.”

Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi, and a number of lawmakers, who had visited Pakistan to secure the release of Wahid, said that the incident should be thoroughly investigated.

They acknowledged the Afghan government and Pakistan’s hard work to secure the safe release of Wahidi.

“A lot of efforts have been made to secure the release of Wahidi. This issue was at the top of our agenda during meetings with Pakistani officials. We praise Pakistan’s efforts in securing the release of Wahidi,” said Ebrahimi.

Wahidi was kidnapped 16 days ago in Islamabad and was released after 12 days. However, the reason behind his kidnapping is not yet clear http://www.tolonews.com/en/afghanistan/24016-wahidi-demands-investigation-into-his-kidnapping
