US Senators expressed criticism over the report released by the Biden administration over the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, which they say downplayed the risk of terrorism.
Speaking to Fox News, Senator Lindsey Graham said that regarding what happened in Afghanistan, Biden “paved the way for another 9/11.”
Graham accused the officials of a “political whitewash.”
Senator Ben Cardin said that the major mistake was due to “direct negotiations” with the Taliban.
“I think the major mistake was made in negotiating directly with the Taliban. Not involving the Afghan government. You know, largely withdrawing our troops to a level that did not give us the ability to protect US interests moving forward,” he said.
The Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said some political figures in the US are seeking conflict for their personal interests.
“The (remarks) of the US (senators) are inaccurate. We should know that some politicians of the US support wars to take advantage of war,” he said.
The political analysts gave various opinions on the matter:
“The threat from this group to the US and its allies in NATO and the EU is at the lowest level,” said Asadullah Nadim, a political analyst.
“The enemy is the same There is a need for joint fighting against it. They (US) should work on intelligence details with the Islamic Emirate’s government and fight it jointly,” said Mohammad Matin Mohammad Khail, a military veteran.
The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly pledged that there will be no threat from the Afghan soil toward any foreign countries.
