Uruzgan Officials Claim 450 Insurgents Killed And Wounded TOLOnews.com, 27 September 2016

Uruzgan provincial officials claimed on Tuesday that almost 450 insurgents, including foreign fighters, have been killed and wounded since their recent attack on the provincial capital Trin Kot.

Provincial Governor Mohammad Nazir Kharoti and Uruzgan National Security Chief said during a visit to the front line of the battle that security forces had prevented an invasion of the city by the Taliban.

According to Kharoti so far 260 Talibs have been killed and 190 wounded.

Kharoti did not speak about civilian and military personal casualties.

In December 2013, Australian troops handed over control of their military base in Trin Kot to the Afghan forces.

Australian forces completed their withdrawal from Uruzgan province at the end of 2013, after a 12-year mission which saw 41 defense force personnel killed and 261 seriously wounded – mostly in the province.http://www.tolonews.com/en/afghanistan/27486-uruzgan-officials-claim-450-insurgents-killed-and-wounded
