Top Taliban commander killed during gun battle with NDS forces in Logar By KHAAMA PRESS – Sun May 01 2016

A top Taliban commander was killed during a gun battle with the intelligence operatives in the central Logar province of Afghanistan.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the commander identified as Mohammad Rahim was killed as the NDS operatives were busy conducting a special military raid in Khoshi district.

A statement by NDS said Rahim was involved in major terrorist related activities in Khoshi district before he was killed by the intelligence operatives.

The statement further added that two others accompanying Rahim were also killed during the gun battle and have been identified as Mohammad Alam and Mohammad Wali.

The intelligence operatives seized 2 Ak-47 rifles, 1 rocket launcher and a motorcycle following the operation, NDS added.

According to the footage released by NDS, numerous weapons, business cards, Pakistani currency and phone numbers have also been confiscated from the militants killed or detained during the operation.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
