Three Afghan secret agents nabbed from Islamabad, Peshawar By Javed Aziz Khan in the News, August 11, 2016

ISLAMABAD: Three agents of an intelligence agency of a neighbouring country have been arrested from Islamabad and Peshawar separately as they were planning to carry out attacks at sensitive places in the federal and provincial capitals, officials said on Wednesday.

In Islamabad, on a tip-off, the police raided a hideout in the Simli Dam area and arrested a spy identified as Gull Mir, 50, who was working for the Afghan spy agency. The accused hailed from Baghlan Province of Afghanistan and could only speak Persian.

According to the police, the accused was posing himself as mentally deranged. The police shifted him to an undisclosed location for further investigation.Meanwhile, in Peshawar, two agents of a foreign intelligence agency, Atiqullah and Abdul Saboor, were arrested during an action in Regi. Both are Afghan nationals, an official of the Counter Terrorism Department of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said.

Officials disclosed that a three kilogram improvised explosive device planted in the CPU of a computer, a hand-grenade and weapons were recovered from the arrested foreign agents. and weapons were recovered from the arrested foreign agents.

The official did not mention the agency for which the agents were working but said it was a secret service of a neighbouring country. “They were getting heavy amount as salary. The agents had made videos of the crowded places in Peshawar to carry out bomb attacks,” said the CTD official. The official continued that a seminary in Tehkal was also on the hit list of the arrested terrorists.

“Major terror bids have been thwarted by arresting the two secret agents before they could execute their plans,” said the official.
