Temple vandalised in Lalmonirhat

report in The Daily Star online, July 12, 2023
Unidentified miscreants vandalised a Hindu temple in Lalmonihat Sadar upazila early today.

They also looted the gold ornaments the Kali idol was adorned with and cash from the donation box, reports our local correspondent quoting Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Omar Farooq.

The incident took place at Ratipur Paschimpara Central Cremation Temple at Gokunda Union.

The miscreants broke in the temple by cutting the iron grill. People who came in the morning to worship found that the temple was vandalised, said Promodh Chandra Roy, the president of the temple.

“Police have visited the spot. We are preparing to file a case in this regard,” he said. Lalmonirhat Superintendent of Police Shaiful Islam also visited the spot.

Police are trying to arrest the vandals, OC Omar Farooq said.
