Taliban’s Shadow Deputy Governor For Baghlan Killed by Sayed Arif Musavi in TOLO News,Mar 26, 2016

Afghan security forces reportedly killed the Taliban’s designated deputy governor for Baghlan province in northern Balkh province.

“Their [Taliban’s] plan was foiled. We received a tip-off from inside the Taliban that Humvee tanks are coming to attack us and we seized the vehicles without sustaining any casualties,” said General Sayed Kamal Sadat, Balkh police chief.

In addition to seizing the three tanks, Sadat said that Afghan security forces also recovered a number of heavy and light weapons from the Taliban.
He said that six militants were detained and there were no casualties to Afghan forces.

The fighting took place on Friday night on the highway that connects Kholm district of Balkh to Kunduz province, when the Taliban stormed security checkpoints of police.

Assadullah Sharefi, a lawmaker from the province confirmed that the Taliban’s shadow deputy governor for Baghlan was killed by Afghan security forces.

Atiqullah, a member of the public uprising has fought the Taliban in Dasth-e-Khairabad area of Kholm district. “The Taliban could not fight us and we defeated them,” he said.

Security troops in the area said that the Taliban attacked them from three directions, but were eventually defeated.

Expressing their pleasure at defeating the Taliban, the troops were taking photos on the tanks that they had seized from the Taliban. They said that they are ready to protect their country.http://www.tolonews.com/en/afghanistan/24417-talibans-shadow-deputy-governor-for-baghlan-killed
