DOHA, QATAR – Deputy Leader of the Taliban Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, at the Heart of Asia Society (HAS) 7th session on Thursday, said the group is committed to solve the current political problems of Afghanistan by negotiations.
On Thursday, the Heart of Asia Society (HAS) hosted the 7th session of its flagship track 2 dialogue series on regional and international support for Afghan peace, where Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, who is also head of the Taliban political office in Doha, Qatar, participated as keynote speaker.
“[The Taliban] for its part is fully prepared and committed to resolving the issues through negotiations,” said Baradar, adding the group wants an inclusive and Islamic system in Afghanistan.
He said the next political system will ensure the protection of public utility, women’s rights, media rights, and Afghanistan’s bilateral relations with all other nations in line with the Islamic principles, according to sources.
Adding on, Baradar said the next political system will also fight drug smuggling, as well as, its production, in the country. It will maintain good ties with neighboring counties and will seek international assistance for Afghanistan in line with the Islamic laws.
While the Taliban negotiating team visions a completely new form of government in Afghanistan, the republic negotiating team exclaimed a comprehensive ceasefire will be the Afghan team’s utmost priority in the ongoing talks with the Taliban in Qatari capital Doha.
