Taliban arrests three commanders and 16 TTP fighters in Afghanistan:

By Fidel Rahmati in The Khaama Press, December 7, 2023
The Taliban captured three leaders and 16 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters, as per the Express Tribune, a Pakistani

newspaper.

According to the report, these Pakistani militants were apprehended in the border city of Kandahar.

The arrest of Pakistani Taliban members came as a result of Pakistan’s pressure on the Afghan Taliban to take decisive action

against the Pakistan Taliban, Express Tribune reported.

Pakistan has repeatedly claimed that Pakistani Taliban militants have safe havens in Afghanistan and organize anti-government

attacks in Pakistan from there.

Last month, Islamabad provided a list of militants to Taliban authorities in Kabul which accuses of organizing terrorist in

Pakistan.

Following the recent series of attacks in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan demanded the extradition

of a Taliban militant named Hafiz Gul Bahadur, who is accused of assisting a suicide bomber in organizing the attack.

He is alleged to have entered Pakistan with an Afghan ID card.

In the wake of this attack, Pakistan called for serious and immediate action against the planners and facilitators of the Bannu

attack.

In response to concerns, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also announced last week that the Afghan Taliban government had given

“specific assurances” to neutralize the threat posed by the Pakistani Taliban.

Following their arrest, these individuals have been moved to a Kandahar prison. The Taliban’s claim of their arrest is seen as

an effort to demonstrate action against the Pakistani Taliban.
