report in Dawn,21 Dec 2020
BAJAUR: The security forces claimed on Sunday to have foiled a terror bid by recovering two suicide jackets during an intelligence-based operation in Barang tehsil of Bajaur tribal district, official sources said.

They said the suicide jackets were recovered from a remote locality during a search operation late in the evening.

On a tip-off, a contingent of security forces was moved to the area, the officials said, adding at the behest of an Indian intelligence agency terrorists were planning to carry out suicide attacks in Peshawar and Rawalpindi on Dec 25.

The sources said the security forces had killed and arrested a number of key terrorists in the region during the past several weeks. They said some militant commanders were among those killed and detained.

Meanwhile, nine people were injured when a vehicle plunged into a ravine in Nawagai town on Sunday, Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said the accident occurred on Khar-Peshawar Road when a pickup vehicle plunged into ravine after hitting a roadside tree following brake failure. They said the injured people were shifted to hospital.

The local residents said the wounded were all labourers.
