PESHAWAR: A soldier embraced martyrdom after an exchange of fire between troops and terrorists in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday.

ISPR, the media wing of the army, in a statement said that “troops effectively engaged terrorists’ location. However, during the intense exchange of fire, Lance Naik Jamshed Khan (age 28 years, resident of District Upper Dir), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat”.
It said sanitisation of the area was being carried out to purge it of any militant activity.
There have been bombings in Mir Ali but this appears to be the first time that troops have exchanged fire with militants since Operation Zarb-i-Azb.
