Six injured in rocket attack near Pak-Iran border

GWADAR: Six people were injured when one of three rockets fired from nearby mountains hit a house in Mand Suro town near the Pak-Iran border in the Kech district on Monday.

One of the rockets hit an office of Pakistan Customs near the border, leaving its building slightly damaged. However, no one was injured.

The third rocket exploded in an open area near a camp of Frontier Corps.

The injured were taken to a local hospital. They are said to be in serious condition. The mud house was damaged in the attack.

Official sources said that the rockets were fired from the nearby mountains and their target was FC’s camp. The FC personnel fired into the air after the attack.

Explosions and firing created panic among people.

Meanwhile, a convoy of the Frontier Works Organisation came under attack in Hoshab area of Kech district. However, no one was injured.

Sources said that the convoy was passing through the area when a roadside bomb exploded near it and gunshots were fired. The personnel took positions and returned fire.

The FWO personnel are involved in the construction of M-8 Motorway in the area.

After the attack, security personnel launched a search operation in the area and took two suspects into custody after finding objectionable literature in their possession.
