Six people affiliated with Daesh group, including a woman, were killed during a security forces’ operation on a hideout in Herat’s PD14, Herat security authorities said.
The operation occurred last night, and one of those killed was a foreign national, according to Herat’s security command.
“The security command forces went to the area, after a quick fight between them, six of the Daesh members who lived in the house were killed,” said Abdullah Insaf, spokesman of Herat security command.
Security officials added that the Islamic Emirate forces had also taken several weapons from people affiliated with the Daesh group.
Meanwhile, Herat residents asked the Islamic Emirate to take steps in ensuring the safety of the residents of the province.
“It is not called life when every night we sleep in fear, when you don’t know what is going on in the neighborhood,” said Ahmad Shah Ferozi, a resident of Herat.
“We ask the Islamic Emirate to prevent these terrorists, so that people live in a safe and peaceful environment,” said Sharif Ahmad, another resident of Herat.
Some military experts consider the presence and activities of people affiliated with Daesh in the cities to be worrying.
“Daesh is considered a serious threat, especially inside Afghanistan,” said Mohammad Naeem Ghayor, a military expert.
This is the third military operation against Daesh affiliates in Herat city in the previous six months.
Five people affiliated with the Daesh group were killed in an operation by the security forces in the northern part of Herat city over four months ago. Before that incident, three members of Daesh were killed during intelligence force operations in PD4 of Herat city.
