Senior Afghan police official killed in Taliban ambush in Takhar KHAAMA PRESS – Thu Apr 14 2016

A senior police official was killed in Taliban ambush in northeastern Takhar province of Afghanistan, officials said.

The incident took place earlier today leaving the commander of Kunduz highway dead along with his 7 bodyguards.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the incident so far.

Takhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in northeastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.

This comes as the Taliban militants group announced their spring offensive earlier this week and vowed to carry out more insurgency activities across the country.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant across the country including northern provinces despite efforts by the Afghan government to end the violence through reconciliation process.http://www.khaama.com/senior-afghan-police-official-killed-in-taliban-ambush-in-takhar-0651
