ISLAMABAD – Denying the reports of her sacking from the slot of In-charge PML-Q Gilgit-Baltistan Elections Campaign, Marvi Memon Monday said that party President Ch. Shujaat Hussain was satisfied with her performance and had congratulated her for arranging a successful political gathering at Lalakjan Stadium, Gilgit.
“Reports of my sacking are baseless and you may confirm it from PML-Q President,” Marvi told The Nation.
It is worth mentioning here that some reports revealed that Marvi was being sacked on the issue of displaying portraits of Pervez Musharraf and Nisar Memon on the banners and party flags rather than displaying the pictures of Chaudhry brothers.
However, Secretary General PML (Q) Mushahid Hussain Sayed when contacted termed it a side issue and said that it was time to focus on real issues. He added that Marvi has done a great job in Gilgit-Baltistan and the last public gathering at Lalakjan Stadium was a proof of her efforts. “It was the largest political gathering of any political party in Gilgit-Baltistan and Marvi has jolted anyone expecting defeat of our candidates”, Mushahid said.
He said that the PML-Q political gathering was as large as those conducted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and other leaders of the PPP. He added that PML (Q) was the only political party in Gilgit-Baltistan elections that was not among the ruling parties of the country.
Addressing a huge public gathering at Lalakjan Stadium earlier, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that his party was a symbol of federation, peace, and development and would turn Gilgit-Baltistan into a tourism hub which would attract massive foreign investment, which could also help fulfil the country’s energy needs.
Mushahid said his party would construct small and large dams in Gilgit-Baltistan, which would not only generate power to meet local energy needs but also would generate surplus power.
Urging the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to reject plunderers who had tried to get rid of corruption cases through NRO and to choose service-oriented politicians on November 12, by electing PML candidates as this party had served the ignored and abused people of Gilgit-Baltistan in the best manner possible during the past five years.
Criticising the PPP government, Mushahid said that this regime had given nothing to the people but load shedding; atta, wheat and sugar shortage; and would probably deny the people their basic human rights one day.
“The people know who plundered the national wealth, who gave them terrorism, and who pushed them deep into poverty and illiteracy. It was only during our five-year rule that the people were rewarded with education, employment, and awareness. The voters would have to reject those who divided them in the name of religion, caste and language differences”, he remarked.
“Gilgit-Baltistan would prove to be a bridge between the people of Pakistan and China, and we would give Gilgit-Baltistan an international airport which would prove to be an important link between Pakistan, China, and Central Asian states”, he said while unveiling the election manifesto of his party for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
