CHITRAL: Five newly-elected office-bearers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Lower Chitral youth wing resigned in protest against the ‘selection’ of the president and general secretary by the party’s divisional head.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Ziaur Rehman, Nazir Ahmed Chitrali, Abuzar Ghaffari, Salah Jani and others said the divisional president had appointed the two men on key posts despite the fact that they had not even filed nomination papers.
They said the party workers were dejected by the change of election results. They added that one of the office-bearers selected by the divisional president was as chowkidar in a government primary school.
They threatened that if the controversial decision was not rescinded within 10 days they would take the next course of action.
Meanwhile, the people of Drosh town staged a protest demonstration in front of tehsil headquarters hospital on Saturday to demand appointment of lady doctors to the health facility.
The protesters castigated the PTI government for its failure to fill the four posts of lady doctors lying vacant for last four years.
They said two lady doctors were posted six months ago but they had yet to join duty. They warned of staging more protests if the vacancies were not filled within a week.
