report in Dawn, 08 Dec 2020
HYDERABAD: Activists of the Progressive Youth Alliance Hyderabad staged a protest on Monday outside the local press club for the release of student rights’ activists Amar Fayyaz and Sarwech Noohani.

Fayyaz’s wife Sapna Amar, comrade Ali Essa, Sarmad Siyal and others said that Amar was picked up on Nov 8 in Jamshoro by occupants of two double cabin vehicles. Three police mobiles were also there when he was picked up, they said and added that since then his whereabouts remained unknown.

They said Sarwech Noohani also remained missing for a long time and his family members were running from pillar to post for his release. Both of them were student rights’ activists and they were seeking restoration of students unions, they added.

The missing activists, they said, were highlighting cases of harassment of students. They were not involved in any criminal activity, they claimed.

They appealed to the chief justices of Pakistan and Sindh High Court to intervene and ensure their safe release.
