Prominent Taliban leader arrested in North of Afghanistan By KHAAMA PRESS – Sun Jun 26 2016

A prominent Taliban leader was arrested by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in northern Parwan province.

According to the security officials, the detained Taliban leader was identified as Abdul Samad and was arrested as he was traveling in Sia Gerd district.

The officials further added that Samad was a senior intelligence figure of the group and was also supervising suicide attacks.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as another senior Taliban leader was found wounded in a police vehicle as he was being shifted to Kabul apparently for treatment purposes last week.

The Taliban leader identified as Qari Zahir was the spy chief of the Taliban group and was found from the police vehicle in a check post in Khenjan district of Baghlan.

A security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said Qari Zahir was arrested by the operatives of the Afghan intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS).
