GHALANAI: Unknown miscreants attacked the house of a local pro-government tribal elder with rockets in Kota Taraf area of Ambar tehsil in Mohmand Agency in the wee hours of Friday.
Assistant political agent Naveed Akbar told this correspondent by phone that unknown militants equipped with heavy weapons fired rockets at the house of tribal elder Malik Izat Khan at about 1:00am.
He said that no loss of life and property was reported in the firing.
He said that the local people chased and engaged the unknown attackers and the gun battle continued till morning.
It was learnt that the local people had arrested one Taj Mohammad of Owlai Shah Ambar from Danish Kool area of Pandilai tehsil and handed him over to the local administration for investigation.
A Levies official said on condition of anonymity that the house belonged to a pro-government tribesman.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Also in the day, Mohmand Agency political agent Mahmood Aslam Wazir and APA Upper Mohmand paid a surprise visit to the Nadra Swift Registration Centre in Ghalanai.
He listened to the people’s complaints there and issued on the spot directions, asking the Nadra officials to immediately resolve all concerns of the applicants.
