PM Imran, who had the highest number of followers of any Pakistani on the site with 12.9 million followers, used to follow Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari, as well as, fellow party leaders Asad Umar, Jahangir Khan Tareen and Naeem-ul-Haque. He also followed organisations he headed, such as Shaukat Khanum and Namal.

Previously, netizens had noted the premier had unfollowed journalist Hamid Mir, and there had been some controversy around this. The rumour mill assumed that the decision was taken amid rising criticism of the government by the anchor.
