PM calls meeting of parliamentary heads on 3rd: Report in The Nation, Oct 1, 2016

ISLAMABAD – In the wake of escalation of tension at the Line of Control, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has convened a meeting of heads of parliamentary parties on Monday to discuss the situation with them and evolve a unified stance on the issue.

The overall security situation in the country would be discussed in the meeting while the matters pertaining to the growing human rights violations by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir would also come under discussion. The meeting would likely to come up with reiteration to continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the cause of the Kashmiri people who are demanding their right to self-determination promised to them by the United Nations.

The meeting would likely to finalise the list of parliamentarians to be sent to various world capitals to raise the voice for the innocent Kashmiris who were facing the worst kind of human rights violations at the hands of Indian occupying forces.

Yesterday’s federal cabinet meeting came up with a very strong response to the unprovoked shelling by Indian forces at the LoC and made it loud and clear that Pakistan’s restraint and preference to peace should not be taken as weakness for the armed forces of the country were fully capable of defending each and every inch of the country’s territory.

The federal cabinet, by expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren, reaffirmed that such cowardly acts on the part of Indian forces would not deter Pakistan from extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the just cause of the people of Kashmir.

A PML-N leader said all the parliamentary parties’ heads were extended invitations in this connection and hoped they would be attending the meeting.

About the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, a ruling party parliamentarian said they were invited like other parliamentary parties’ heads and now it was up to them to attend or miss the meeting.

A parliamentary source said PTI Chairman Imran Khan would not likely to attend the moot, while the party would be represented by Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The prime minister has also called a high-level security meeting on Tuesday in which all the four chief ministers, key federal ministers, chief of the army staff and other civil and military officers concerned would be in attendance.

Wednesday’s joint session of the parliament would surely be coming up with a strong warning message to India against such acts of escalations at the LoC, Working Boundary and international border.

Meanwhile, the prime minister yesterday made it loud and clear by saying,“No power can deter us from supporting our Kashmiri brethren in their just and legitimate struggle for the exercise of their right to self-determination guaranteed to them by the UNSC resolutions.” Jammu and Kashmir dispute was an unfinished agenda of the partition of the sub-continent, he said.

“No external force has the capability or capacity to challenge the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan. We have the best armed forces in the world and are proud of that,” the prime minister said, adding the entire nation was standing behind our valiant armed forces.http://nation.com.pk/national/01-Oct-2016/pm-calls-meeting-of-parliamentary-heads-on-3rd
