PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Democratic Movement’s spokesman and Awami National Party’s general secretary on Wednesday rejected the government’s decision to hold Senate elections in February next year and warned the government that such a move would not only be a violation of the Constitution, but it would be tantamount to undermining the parliament.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that holding of Senate elections before completion of its constitutional term meant the PDM’s rallies had baffled rulers and now they were on the run.
The PDM’s spokesman said that the ‘selected government’ wanted to make Senate elections controversial, but the opposition would not let the government fulfil its illegal wishes.
