LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan was punished by imposing a Ladla just for taking revenge from him as he had put the country on the road to progress.
In his maiden televised ‘address to the nation’ after ending four years of exile, Nawaz said: “It was necessary to remove and punish me to bring a ladla (blue-eyed boy) but what crime was Pakistan punished for.”
He said what was the people’s fault for which they were “punished”.
The deposed premier went on to question why the country, which was progressing at the rate of 6.1 per cent during the PMLN government, was pushed into “economic destruction”.
The PMLN supremo asked the people to give their verdict for development of country on Feb 8, 2024 and get rid of inflation and unemployment. He lamented that he faced jail besides facing character assassination. He added that he was not allowed to shoulder his father’s coffin, bury his mother and was deprived of spending the last moments with his dying wife.
Nawaz Sharif said he had vowed that he would not back off from the tough conditions and returned to Pakistan to face the courts.
The former PM claimed that the cases against him were baseless and termed his acquittal a divine intervention because he had left his case to Allah Almighty. He stated the recent court decisions in his favour exposed the falsehood behind the cases.
Nawaz Sharif further claimed that he was ousted from the prime minister’s office for not accepting salary from his son, adding that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was told to file three references against him and he was also termed the Sicilian mafia and Godfather. Today all those involved in the evil play stood exposed.
