Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf flag hoisted on PML-Q secretariat : report in Daily Times, Jan 25, 2016

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) flag was hoisted on previous Pakistan Muslim League-Q secretariat to welcome Haleem Adil Sheikh joining the party along with hundreds of his friends and supporters on Sunday, showing full confidence in Imran Khan’s leadership.

PTI central leader Arif Alvi greeting the supporters said Imran Khan warmly welcomed Haleem Adil Sheikh in the party and lauded that Haleem was a committed politician working for the rights of common man as he has served the poor people of Thar.

Arif Alvi said that Imran Khan believes in the social work and was fighting for the rights of the poor people by working for free medical treatment and establishing hospitals for them. PTI leader regretted that people of Sindh were forced to drink contaminated water and alleged that the PPP and MQM had been exploiting the people of the province.

Alvi welcomed them and said that he was given the responsibility to strengthen the party in Sindh and now with Haleem Sheikh, the party would get a lot of support. PTI was also joined by Bano Sagheer Siddiqui, Naeem Adil Sheikh, Agha Rafiullah, Fayaz Laghari, Mir Hassan Khan Rind, Imamuddin Kerio, Zeeshan Panhwar, Kareen Bux Lashari, Sadaqat Samoo, Imran Qureshi, Haji Lakhmir Chachar and Fareeda Laghari.

He alleged that the PPP was corrupt as its ministers flew over towns in helicopters to locate vacant plots for grabbing and that billions of rupees earned through such corruption were sent to Dubai. He claimed the recent cabinet meeting was also held in Dubai. He said the reverse osmosis plant (RO) of billions of rupees was said to be the largest RO plant of Asia, but it developed some faults in Thar even before it started.

He said, “Every year 50,000 children were dying in Thar due to malnutrition, but the chief minister is least concerned and due to this injustice, people are joining the PTI,” and added that there are huge reserves of coal in Thar which could cater the whole energy needs of Pakistan as the nation is rich in mineral resources but needs honest leadership.

Haleem Sheikh, speaking on the occasion, said that he started his practical politics in 1993 as a worker and was feeling happy to work again as a political worker. He claimed that the local government elections in Karachi were the election of deputy commissioner and Patwaris as 70 percent people did not even cast their vote. He said the PTI would contact the non-voters by visiting their homes like soldiers of PTI and get rid of the Sindh mafias, who have been holding the people hostage.
