Pakistan has no plan to sign MTCR: Tariq Fatemi By Muhammad Saleh Zaafir in The News, June 29, 2016

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has no plan to ink the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) that India signed the other day and has become member of the ‘elite club.’ It has been announced by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi during Q&A session in discussion on “Is Pakistan Isolated? Regional Challenges and Opportunities,” under the auspices of the Institute for Policy Reforms (IPR) here on Tuesday.

To a query he didn’t offer any observations about India’s joining the regime but maintained that Pakistan wouldn’t sign in any undue haste since it would study its all aspects before taking any decision. “Pakistan doesn’t need it for the time being,” he added.

The seminar was chaired by Chairman IPR Humayun Akhtar Khan while it was also addressed by Professor Anatol Lieven, Professor International Politics, at Georgetown University in Qatar, who spoke on Pakistan and Afghanistan imbroglio. He shared his perspectives from his recent visit to Afghanistan, China and the US. Analyst and writer Zahid Hussain also expressed his views regarding foreign affairs. http://www.thenews.com.pk/print/131498-Pakistan-has-no-plan-to-sign-MTCR-Tariq-Fatemi
