A shootout between police and suspected criminals has left one killed in the capital early on Monday.
The Detective Branch (DB) said the victim of the incident at the capital’s Mirpur area has been identified as 30-year-old Md Sohel, who was wanted for murder.
DB Deputy Commissioner Md Sazzadur Rahman said a raid was conducted at Bhashantek area following intelligence inputs suggesting that criminals were gathered in the area.
“As soon as police reached the spot, they were fired on. The law enforcers retaliated when Sohel was shot. He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead,” he told bdnews24.com.
The senior DB officer said some of the criminals escaped, but they managed to capture another identified as Hiron.
