Nuristani faces opposition for appointment as Afghan Ambassador to Spain By KHAAMA PRESS – Tue Jul 12 2016

The Office of the Chief Executive has opposed with the appointment of Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani as the Afghan Ambassador to Spain.

A spokesman for  CEO Abdullah Abdullah Javid Faisal has said the Office of the Chief Executive hopes that the selection of Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani as Ambassador to Spain is not true.

According to Faisal, Nuristani has been repeatedly recommended to CEO Abdullah for the post of the Afghan Ambassador to Spain but it was rejected.

He said the Chief Executive expects that the background of Nuristani should be considered before appointing him as the Afghan Ambassador to Spain.

Faisal further added that the appointment of Nuristani would be in contrast to the promises of the Afghan government of national unity in fight against corruption.

Insisting that the decision should be cancelled, Faisal said the selection would undermine the commitments and promises made by the government to the people and international community.

Nuristani was supervising one of the most controversial presidential elections in 2014 as the Independent Election Commission Chief.

The 2014 presidential elections was marred by massive fraud allegations that had put the country almost on the brink of a political crisis.

The persistent deadlock resulted into the interference of the US Secretary of State John Kerry which led to the formation of the government of national unity.
