Nearly 100 militants including ISIS loyalists killed in ongoing operations: MoD KHAAMA PRESS – Tue Mar 01 2016, 3:26 pm

At least 98 anti-government armed militants were killed and scores of others were wounded in ongoing military operations by the Afghan security forces, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

Providing operational update, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said at least 11 militants affiliated with Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were among those killed.

A statement by MoD said at least 49 militants were wounded and 12 others were arrested besides various types of weapons, ammunition and explosives confiscated by the security forces.

The statement further added majority of the militants suffered casualties during the operations in Pashtunkot district of Faryab province where at least 50 deaths were reported.

At least 14 militants were killed in a separate operation in Sangin district of Helmand province, MoD said, adding that another militant was killed in another operation in Adraskan district of Herat province in the west.

According to MoD, two commanders of the ISIS terrorist group were killed along five foreign insurgents in Achin district of Nangarhar province.

At least 15 militants were killed in the ongoing operations in Dand-e-Dhori district of northern Baghlan province, while 7 other were killed in Dasht-e-Archi district of Kunduz province, MoD added.
