Low intensity bomb goes off in hujra

Report in Dawn, July 14th, 2023
PESHAWAR: One person sustained minor injuries and a vehicle was damaged after a low intensity bomb exploded inside the hujra (guest house) of a local resident on Nasir Bagh Road late Wednesday night, police said.

Police said that Najibullah, a resident of Malkandher, filed a report with the police saying that he was offering prayers in the mosque when he heard an explosion, adding that as soon as he reached his hujra, he saw a crater inside.

Muslim Khan, a police official, said that senior police officials visited the site and a case was registered against unknown persons. He stated that the close-circuit television cameras had recorded footage of two motorcyclists who hurled the bomb in the hujra and escaped.

Meanwhile, an official statement issued by the city police stated that no ball bearings or shrapnel were recovered from the site.

“The bomb disposal unit inspected the area and said it was a locally made cracker with almost 250g explosives,” the official statement said, adding that “the owner of the hujra had not received any extortion call or threat”. …. https://www.dawn.com/news/1764534/low-intensity-bomb-goes-off-in-hujra
