Large cache of arms recovered in Peshawar: Report in The News, Oct 3, 2016

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police during an action recovered 46 pistols,eight semi-automatic rifles and arrested one person on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suburb Fazal Wahid told reporters here that acting over a tip-off, thepolice stopped a car, LXZ-3155, on Ring Road near Kohat Road. “When the hidden cavities of the car were searched, police recovered 46 pistols, eight semi-automatic rifles and 24,000 rounds from the vehicle. One person, Mohammad Zaman of LakkiMarwat was arrested,” said the official. Police said the seized weapons could have been used for terrorist activities during the Ashura Muharram.

JAMRUD: The Khassadar forces foiled a smuggling bid and seized a huge quantity of narcotics from a vehicle here on Sunday, official sources said.The sources said that Khassadar personnel seized 24 kilogrammes of opium and 3 kg of hashish from secret cavities of a car during a routine search at Bigyari checkpost.  They also arrested two alleged smugglers identified as Said Nawaz and Nikwali.
