LAKKI MARWAT: The police on Saturday claimed to have repulsed a militant attack on a checkpost in Bakhmal Ahmadzai area of the Lakki Marwat district.
An official said that on Friday night, cops noticed movement of militants around the police post in the modern thermal cameras, and fired at them. “The assailants also hit the police post with light and heavy weapons,” claimed the official.
He said that after hearing the exchange of fire, local residents also came out of their houses to assist the police in their action against militants.
The official said that the cops assigned the security and monitoring duty at the police stations and posts in the district were spending sleepless nights and used thermal cameras for effective surveillance.
He said that the policemen deployed at Bakhmal Ahmadzai post were already fully alert to the any untoward incident. “A quick response by the police supported by local people forced the militants to flee,” he added.
Meanwhile, district police officer Tariq Habib thanked the residents of Bakhmal Ahmadzai for helping the personnel repulse the checkpost attack.
He said that police and area people would launch joint efforts to counter the menace and root out it completely.
