Taliban commander among four killed in Nangarhar

A Taliban commander and three other militants have been killed by military and police in eastern Nangarhar province.

A statement released by the 201st Selab Military Corps in the country’s east states that Qari Rafiullah, a prominent commander of Taliban, was killed during operation Shaheen 13 in Koz Behar area of Khogyani District on Monday.

The statement adds that two companions of Qari Rafiullah sustained injuries in the operation.

Operation Shaheen 13 has been jointly launched by military, police and personnel from the National Directorate of Security (NDS).

Meanwhile, police have rebuffed a militant attack in Hesarak District of Nangarhar province.

A statement released by the police headquarters of Nangarhar states that militants launched a coordinated attack on a number of security posts in Hesarak District which faced a befitting response by police.

“Including group commander Mustafa, three armed opponents were killed in the clash,” the statement adds.

Nangarhar which comparatively had better security has become the most restive province in the country’s east.

The province’s security worsened when Daesh emerged in its remote areas about a year ago.http://www.khaama.com/taliban-commander-among-four-killed-in-nangarhar-4517
