By Fatema Adeeb in TOLOnews, June 16, 2023 at 11:03 PM
The Russian special envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, said that as long as the current Afghan officials are not recognized by the world, no ambassador can work in the Afghan embassy in Russia.

In an interview with Russian media outlet RTVI, Kabulov also noted that the current government in Afghanistan is not inclusive.

“Officially, the officials of the current Afghan government are not recognized, which means that until they are, no ambassador can be present at the Afghan embassy in Russia, and this is the issue that Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have repeatedly addressed. Such action can be taken when the Taliban fulfill their initial pledge to establish an inclusive government made up of ethnic and political representatives,” Kabulov noted.

Zamir Kabulov said the security situation in Afghanistan has not changed and urged Russian citizens to avoid travel to Afghanistan during the interview.

“The security situation in Afghanistan is serious, therefore we advise our citizens to avoid traveling there. Numerous terrorist organizations are fighting against the ruling system in Afghanistan, and whether or not our countrymen go there, they may run into trouble,” the Russian special envoy for Afghanistan, further stated.

In the meantime, the Islamic Emirate, in response to Kabulov’s statements, said that security has been ensured in Afghanistan and foreign citizens should not worry about it.

The Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, emphasized that the establishment of an inclusive government is an Afghan domestic issue and urged other nations not to interfere in it.

“We provide assurance on security to all foreign nationals working here in the fields of diplomacy and business. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has ensured their security well,” Mujhaid said.

The Russian president’s envoy for Afghanistan also said in this interview that the current Afghan government is interested in having Russian experts repair artillery and tanks there, but the Islamic Emirate’s spokesperson disputed his claims.
