JuD’s Kashmir Caravan on 19th: REPORT in Dawn, July 17th, 2016

LAHORE: The Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) is holding a ‘Kashmir Caravan’ from Lahore to Islamabad on July 19 to express solidarity with Kashmiris.

“Kashmir Caravan will start from The Mall on Tuesday. It will take a day to reach Islamabad where a historic public meeting will be held on D Chowk in support of the oppressed Kashmiris,” JuD chief Hafiz Saeed told a press conference at Chauburji here on Saturday.

He said the leaders of religious, political and Hurriyat Conference would attend the rally.

“People from all walks of life will participate in the caravan so that we can give a strong message to the world that we are standing by the Kashmiris,” he said.

Saeed demanded that the government immediately suspend diplomatic and trade ties with India. “Pakistan should expel the Indian ambassador and recall its envoy from India. The Pakistan government should do something practical instead of issuing statements only,” he said.

He asked the political parties to shun their political differences and consume their energies to fight the case of Kashmiris in the world. “The government needs to do a lot more than observing ‘black day’ to express solidarity with Kashmiris,” he said.

Saeed alleged that India had used “chemical weapons” in the Held Kashmir.

“As many as 55 Kashmiris have been killed after Burhanuddin Wani’s martyrdom. Some 3,000 are in hospitals. Many of them contracted skin diseases and 190 Kashmiris lost eyesight. It proves India used some deadly chemicals while firing at innocent Kashmiris during their protest,” he said, adding the Indian army had arrested 4,000 Kashmiris.

He said India had suspended the supply of water and electricity to different areas and banned all Pakistani channels there. “Kashmiris are in dire need of food and medicines.”

He demanded that the PML-N government ban Indian channels and films to express solidarity with Kashmiris. www.dawn.com/news/1271347/juds-kashmir-caravan-on-19th
