JMB conspiracy to attack shrine thwarted

By Arifur Rahman Rabbi in Dhaka Tribune,June 01, 2017
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three JMB members during a drive in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area.
The militants – Md Mofizul Islam alias Tushar alias Tawhid (29), Md Rokibul Islam alias Rokibul Mollah (23) and Md Iliyas Ahmed (19) – planned to attack a shrine in Dhaka, said RAB.
“We seized a huge cache of explosives and jihadi books from their possession,” said RAB 2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Iftekharul Mabud during a press briefing on Wednesday.
After the primary interrogation, the detainees confessed to being active JMB members, he said.
“They also had explosive materials which were to be used in various locations.”
Tushar was born in Sherpur in 1988 and dropped out of school in Class X. In 2013, Tushar met Yasin, a JMB leader who was arrested by RAB in March. Yasin led Tushar toward the path of militancy.
Rokibul was born in 1994 in Faridpur and studied at a madrasa. He quit his studies after joining a garment factory. Yasin brainwashed Rokibul in a similar fashion.
Iliyas was born in 1996 in Nalitabari, Sherpur and also attended a madrasa. He is Tushar’s cousin and followed his footsteps to join the militant group.http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/crime/2017/06/01/jmb-conspiracy-attack-shrine-thwarted/
